Was listening to Trentemøller today again. I must admit he is my favourite minimal electronic music producer for now. And one of the best remixers, at least from those I know. I love the massiveness of his music, the raw and rugged sounds, the deep bass and powerful atmosphere. Listening to Chameleon got me thinking about all this, so I want to share it with You as well.
Note -- decent sound system needed (good headphones at least) to experience this music properly.
Dreamy, peaceful, full of juicy bass – beautiful chilled-out electronic piece Mind Looping Technology by Robert Babicz. Love the oriental garnishment. Enjoy!
Terrifying, disgusting, scary and… alluring. This is video for Ken Ishii’s pulsating and energetic techno track Extra. I remember seeing it back in the late nineties. Even though the video was so strange and frightening for me as a kid at that time, I still remember myself really enjoying the music and the combination of flashing, violent anime that went together with it. I think it is some kind of a way of touching that animalistic part of a human being that lives inside of all of us. Scary yet tempting. A way of releasing that energy by diving into the music and visuals that take over your senses. That’s why I like this tune and it’s video so much. Masterpiece in my world.
Btw, the track hasn’t lost any of it’s punch over the years, it still feels fresh even by today’s standards. Album version is almost nine minutes long. Ken Ishii still is one of my favorite techno artists.
Tru Thoughts 10th Anniversary Megamix for Radio 1 by Hint… Maaan… I’m still bobbin’ me head quite hard here. Great half-an-hour mix created entirely out of Tru Thoughts artists’ tunes. Very funky, soulful and full of positive dancin’ energy. I love this music! Discovered many new artists while enjoying this mix – it is full of funky tunes from the first minute to the last, no slapdash here.
What’s even better – this groovy package is available for download. For free! Click on the download icon on the player. Quick.
You can find the tracklist in the comments section here.
About this magnificent creation from the mixing-man Hint himself: Here’s a megamix style affair I made, originally for broadcast as part of the Tru Thoughts 10th Anniversary feature on Giles Peterson’s Radio One show. I only had a couple of days to make it, so it is by no means exhaustive. My main aim was to feature as much of the current roster as possible as well as squeeze in a few personal favourites. There are a few exclusives too: my remix of Kylie Auldist should appear on a 12″ in the coming months, and eagle-eared listeners will notice unreleased tracks from Domu, Quantic and Stonephace, which are all exclusive to the forthcoming Tru Thoughts 3xCD anniversary boxset.
Yo, do the hustle! Hot beat. One of those I wish I created – so happy, funky, sexy, jumpy… Do the hustle! By Daz-I-Kue. Can’t wait for the full edition of Lil Bangers, an entire CD full of such juicy, short hip-hop tracks.
By the way, click on the download arrow on the player, this lil banger is free!
Very nice, minimal and darkish track Dark Side of My Room by Extrawelt. Yet again I’ve been taken to another world by music. Just listen to the ambience at the beginning of the track -- wait for it, wait for it and… On 1:30 the dark side kicks in.
Click on the song title above to check out other songs on the album. There are some really good tracks in it. I enjoyed the Messy Machinery, Added Planet (reminds me of Way Out West compositions from late nineties) and Daten Raten as well. Perfect, minimal, nippy german techno.
Tonight something a bit different. Not electronic. Not active, dark, massive or fast. Tonight is different.
Tonight being a silent and a bit sad, full with thoughts and reflections about my life and feelings, and suddenly I found this treasure – Emilíana Torrini.
Her music and voice… brilliant. Simple and yet so interesting, full of emotions and soul. One of the rare guitar music artists that I fell in love instantly. Magic, magic, magic…
The best I’ve heard since Lykke Li.
While listening to her songs (got hold of all of her albums) I just had a thought that she has to be a wonderful live artist. I mean, her voice has to be beautiful and perfect even when performing live. And, voila, check this out:
P.S.: for those of You not familiar with my music taste – I have no particular genre I only listen to. I just love music. Almost all of it, as long as it touches my heart, as long as it vibrates on the same frequency that I am at that moment given. Yes, there is a lot of electronic music in my life. But there are days and moments when I do prefer classical music or something like Emilíana Torrini or Lykke Li. Like tonight.
Sunny and very bright house track – At Least We Can Dance (Hint Mix) by Dekata Project. There are several remixes for the track, but I liked the Hint version most of all. Go to the Hint website for a downloadable mix that features this particular track as the first one. Look for the Hintertainment Vol. 11.
All mix versions of At Least We Can Dance and other Dekata Project tracks are available on Dekata Project’s YouTube Channel.
Wicked drum’n'bass track – Bassbot by A Guy Called Gerald. Exclusively available from here.
Crazy beats. Feels like being a hi-tech ninja, sneaking around pagodas. In winter. Looking for my prey. Red laser aim for my gun, snowflakes slowly landing on my face. And pagodas equipped with electronic locks, sliding doors and thermal cameras. Yep, it’s a wicked track. Psst!
