Extra

Terrifying, disgusting, scary and… alluring. This is video for Ken Ishii’s pulsating and energetic techno track Extra. I remember seeing it back in the late nineties. Even though the video was so strange and frightening for me as a kid at that time, I still remember myself really enjoying the music and the combination of flashing, violent anime that went together with it. I think it is some kind of a way of touching that animalistic part of a human being that lives inside of all of us. Scary yet tempting. A way of releasing that energy by diving into the music and visuals that take over your senses. That’s why I like this tune and it’s video so much. Masterpiece in my world.

Btw, the track hasn’t lost any of it’s punch over the years, it still feels fresh even by today’s standards. Album version is almost nine minutes long. Ken Ishii still is one of my favorite techno artists.

Dark Side of My Room

Very nice, minimal and darkish track Dark Side of My Room by Extrawelt. Yet again I’ve been taken to another world by music. Just listen to the ambience at the beginning of the track -- wait for it, wait for it and… On 1:30 the dark side kicks in.
Click on the song title above to check out other songs on the album. There are some really good tracks in it. I enjoyed the Messy Machinery, Added Planet (reminds me of Way Out West compositions from late nineties) and Daten Raten as well. Perfect, minimal, nippy german techno.

Fengwali

Overwhelming techno/minimal track Fengwali from UK talent Richard Seeley. Sound of it reminds me of something very primitive, natural, somehow even tribal, yet it’s an electronic music composition created just recently. Makes me think about the true role of music.
Listening to this track takes me somewhere deep down, below everything; puts me in to another silent, massive and yet inviting dimension where all you want is this track to continue in order to dive deeper and deeper in to the calm, rhythmic abyss of transcendence. Magnificent and hypnotic stuff.

Time Bandit

I was speechless throughout this track, all I could do is gasp, clap my hands and shake head in excitement and disbelief. Is such a beauty possible? Can it be from this world? Feels like something brilliant from somewhere in outer space.
Hideo Kobayashi has created one of the best techno/tech house tracks that I’ve ever heard in my life. A modern day Mozart. I bow before him. Fantastic track.
